What this site collects

Almost nothing. There is no form, no account, no login, no newsletter, and no tracking of how you use this site.

Two things do involve your data:

Server logs. Like any website, ours records the IP address, browser type and requested page of each visit. This is automatic and necessary to serve the site and keep it working.

The ask box. If you type a question into the console on the home page, that question is sent to Anthropic's API to generate an answer. Anthropic processes it to produce the reply.

We also save the question and the answer, so we can see what people actually want to know and improve what the box is able to tell them. We do not save your IP address or anything else that could identify you — just the text, the answer, and the time. We have no way of knowing who asked what.

Please do not type personal information into the ask box — yours or anyone else's. It is a question box about this studio and the work on it, nothing more. If you need to tell me something private, email me instead.

You are talking to an AI

The answers in the ask box are generated by a large language model, not written by a person and not reviewed before you see them. It is given a short factual file about the studio and the projects, and it can be wrong. Nothing it says is a commitment on my part. If something matters, email me and you will get a human answer.

Why, and the legal basis

Server logs: to operate and secure the site, and to understand roughly how much traffic it gets. Legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) — running a website securely.

The ask box: to answer the question you asked, and to improve the answers over time. Legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) — you typed a question because you wanted an answer, and a question box that never improves is not much use to anyone. You are never required to use it, and the site works fully without it.

How long anything is kept

Questions and answers from the ask box are kept for 90 days, then deleted automatically. They are stored without any identifier, so they cannot be traced back to you or to each other.

Anthropic does not retain the content by default, with one exception: anything their automated safety systems flag may be kept by them for up to two years.

To stop the ask box being abused, the server counts recent requests against a one-way hash of your IP address. The hash is held in memory only, never written to a database, and disappears when the count expires. The IP itself is never stored.

Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for their standard retention period.

If you email me, that email lives in my inbox until I have no reason to keep it.

Who else handles your data

A small number of providers, processing only on our instructions:

Vercel — hosts this website and processes visitors' IP addresses in server logs. Vercel is a US company, so this involves a transfer outside the EU, covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Cloudflare — provides DNS for destbo.com.

Anthropic — processes questions typed into the ask box in order to generate the answer. Our contract is with Anthropic Ireland, Limited, which is the Anthropic entity for customers in the EEA. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, inputs and outputs sent through the API are not used to train their models, and conversation content is not retained by default. If a request is flagged by Anthropic's automated trust and safety systems, they may retain it for up to two years.

Supabase — stores the saved questions and answers from the ask box. Hosted in the EU.

Google — we use Google Workspace for email. If you write to us, Google processes that message.

Unlike some sites, the fonts on this page are served from our own domain, not from Google Fonts. Loading this page does not reveal your IP address to a font provider.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising tools, no fingerprinting. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

We do not know who visits.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of any data we hold about you
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete your data
  • restrict or object to how we use it
  • send your data to you or another provider in a portable format

Because we store so little, most of these will have a short answer. Email privacy@destbo.com and we will act on it. There is no charge, and we will respond within one month.

You can object to processing based on legitimate interest at any time.

Automated decisions

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling. The ask box generates text; it does not make decisions about you.

Children

This site is aimed at adults. It collects no data knowingly from anyone under 18.

Complaints

If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell me first — I would rather fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency:
